ground control
the show i've been
working on is opening
this thursday evening
at seeline gallery
in the pacific design center
janet and i are
putting the final
touches on the show
today and it is looking
so beautiful
thank you to all of the
artists for being
please come and share with us
The artist’s works in the
Ground Control exhibition
reference environmental awareness in a
contemplative and hopeful manner.
Featuring legendary artist,
educator and iconoclastic
designer Ed Fella’s rarely seen masterful collages.
These collages, created exclusively for
Ground Control,
are constructed of bits and pieces
collected directly from the streets of
Los Angeles.
This presentation is significant
as the first time showing of
Ed Fella's artwork outside of the museum setting and in a gallery exhibition.
Our environment is not only
the air, water, minerals, organisms,
and all other external factors
surrounding us at any given moment,
but also the social and cultural forces that shape the life of
a person or a population.
We are currently in a continual struggle
with man’s need to exercise
dominion over an ever-expanding territory
and the detrimental side effects of this obsession with
control and consumption.
With rising awareness to the obvious
changes occurring to our climate
and the immediate consequences felt by humanity world wide,
one would expect to find artistic
translation that speaks to the
immediacy of this climacteric event.
With Ground Control,
Seeline Gallery presents a
diverse representation of this ever-evolving story.

into the heart of the sun
my dear friend
leonardo bravo
has a stunning
new show opening
at fifth floor
saturday night
6-9pm
the works draw on
a modernist and minimalist
geometric vocabulary
by employing an array
of saturated colored lines
to visualize structures and systems
in a constant state of unfolding.
gorgeous.

nicholas krushenick
fascinating
the way your
feelings
can begin to manifest
into
sight.
been really feeling
nicholas krushenick
(an early part of the
pop art movement in new york
and part owner of brata gallery & proud high school dropout ;)
for about a year now...
after regularly seeing
a few of his pieces
at the hospital throughout
last year.
his work charms
my spirit
before my extended
home away from home
experience at cedars
i rarely ever saw examples
of his work...
but now he seems
to be all over my sight line
thank you mr. krushenick
if you are in new york
you can catch a retrospective of
his work at gary synder gallery
lucky you.

i was spirited away
to my dear friend's home

to celebrate her birthday.
we sunbathed, lounged, danced
and i finally had
an occasion to wear
my 1940's chacha dress.

kaufmanfranco
loving the
long, lean
lines at
kaufmanfranco
this season
(very haider ackermann
2010 reminiscent, but
it doesn't actually bother me)
a modified version of this
may very well find it's way
onto my dress form for fall
exposed backs
& maxi length skirts
feel just about right

being about to work
in said class...
little did i know
the instructor

love her simple color palate
and integration of neon pink

Letter To Youki
My love,
Our suffering would be unbearable if I couldn’t regard it as a passing and sentimental illness. Our reunion will make our life beautiful for at least thirty years. For my part, I’m taking a deep swig of youth, and I will return filled with love and strength. During work a birthday, my birthday was the occasion for a long meditation on you. Will this letter reach you in time for your birthday? I would have liked to give you a hundred thousand American cigarettes, a dozen couture dresses, an apartment on the rue de Seine, an automobile, a little house in the Compiègne forest, the one on Belle Isle and a little four-penny bouquet. In my absence, you can go ahead and buy the flowers. I will repay you for them. The rest I promise you for later.
But before all else, drink a bottle of good wine and think of me. I hope our friends won’t leave you alone on this day. I thank them for their devotion and their courage. I received a package from Jean-Louis Barrault about a week ago. Kiss him on the cheek for me as well as Madeleine Renaud, as the package is a proof that my letter did arrive. I have not received a reply, but I’m waiting for one every day. Kiss the whole family for me, Lucienne, Tante Juliette, Georges. If you meet Passuer’s brother, give him my regards and ask him if he knows anyone who can come and help you. What’s new with my books at the press? I have many ideas for poems and novels. I’m sorry that I have neither the freedom nor the time to write them. You can, however, tell Gallimard that within three months of my return they will receive the manuscript for a love story in an entirely new genre. I am closing for today.
Today, the 15th of July, I receive four letters, from Barrault, Julia, Dr. Benet, and Daniel. Thank them and excuse me for not having replied. I have the right to only one letter a month. Still nothing from your hand, but they do give me news of you; this will be for next time. I hope that this letter is as our life to come. My love, I kiss you as tenderly as honorability permits in a letter which must be passed by the censor. A thousand kisses. And have you received the little hope chest that I sent to the hotel in Compiègne?
Robert
