chantal young

after my
less than stellar
experience in my
recent
printmaking class
i was hyped to
see the work of
chantal young
(thanks izzie)
she is a milano based artist
and clothing designer
working much in the
way i was envisioning
being about to work
in said class...
little did i know
the instructor
is strangely anti textile design

love her simple color palate
and integration of neon pink

sheila hicks

looking at
the fiber art
jackets at suno again
i realized i'd never
done a post on sheila hicks

she is one of my greatest influences
and inspired my initial weaving desires
there was a physical shift in my mind
the first time i saw her work
in a library book as a wee one...
i had been obsessed with learning
fiber arts from my great grandmother
but this...this was an entirely
different dimension.

suno

oh boy
am i completely
smitten with suno's
tribe of
niki de st. phalle esque
conehead
grandma warriors

kookoo prints,
wonderful woven bits,
marni flavored platforms,
head pieces to make
joan of arc swoon...
the styling is supreme.
